Job Description

The Clinical Denial Specialist conducts comprehensive reviews of the claim denial, account/guarantor notes associated with the denial, and the medical record to make determinations if a revised claim needs to be submitted, if a retro authorization needs to be obtained, if a written appeal is needed.

Medical Biller Duties and Responsibilities

Medical Billers work in healthcare settings to manage incoming and outgoing payments for medical treatment. Their role is to communicate with patients about their outstanding balance and handling the administrative responsibilities of billing insurance and processing payments. Medical Billers interpret patient charts and medical codes to determine how much they own and whether any outside insurance cover’s part or all of their balance. Periodically review fee schedules for accurate reimbursement. Knowledge of periodic changes in insurance reimbursement policies/ CPT/ICD code edits. Billers document each step in the billing process and manage patient information in a billing software database. Medical Billers investigate system errors and pursue information about denied claims to collect payments on a quick timeline. This position is to be done on site and not limited to the duties in the job description.

Additional Duties

• Perform posting charges-Billing Clerk

• Perform completion of claims to payers

• Conduct duties in a professional and timely fashion

• Submit billing data to the appropriate insurance providers.

• Process claims

• Resolve denial instances.

• Prepare accounts for collection

• Generate month end reporting

• Achieve maximum reimbursement for services provided.

• Deploy, maintain, and report on various programs.

• Do Medicare reviews.

• Conduct audits.

Medical Biller Skills and Qualifications

• Associates degree or a minimum of three years in medical coding industry.

• Proficient in electronic medical records Coding/billing specialist

• Effective communication skills

• Basic computer skills, such as sending emails, typing, and using /creating spreadsheets.

• Interact virtually with clients and patients.

• Creative problem-solving skills

• Work independently.

• Collaborate well with others.
