Medical Billing Specialist [Princeton Orthopaedic Associates]
Princeton Orthopaedic Associates is looking for a Medical Billing Specialist to join our outstanding team! We are looking for a candidate who will be responsible ensuring accurate and timely billing processes. This position is responsible for managing invoices, verifying billing information, and resolving discrepancies to maintain financial integrity. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to navigate electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic health records (EHR) systems effectively. The specialist will collaborate with various departments to gather necessary data and ensure that all transactions are recorded correctly. Ultimately, this role supports the financial health of the organization and enhances customer satisfaction through accurate billing practices.
Responsibilities:
Review and verify patient information and insurance coverage for accuracy
Code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and DRG classifications
Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies in a timely manner
Follow up on unpaid claims and manage the medical collection process
Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies
Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with regulations
Utilize EMR and EHR systems for efficient documentation and billing processes
Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices
Experience/Skills :
Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related field is essential
Familiarity with ICD coding systems (ICD-9 and ICD-10) is required
Knowledge of CPT coding and DRG classifications is preferred
Previous experience in a medical office setting is advantageous
Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for billing purposes is necessary
Organizational skills to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with billing procedures
Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical records management is essential

Princeton Orthopaedic Associates, a division of OrthoNJ, LLC, is required by New Jersey law to include the salary range for this role. The range for this role is typically determined by several factors, including the geography in which the selected candidate will be working, and alignment with qualifications and experience. Certain roles may also be eligible for additional compensation (bonus, etc) and/or benefits. In addition, full-time employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, and retirement plan.
