Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records and patient information to ensure accurate billing
- Assign appropriate medical codes using ICD-9 and ICD
-10 coding systems
- Submit claims to insurance companies for reimbursement
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, and appeal if necessary
- Coordinate with medical providers and insurance companies to resolve billing issues
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Update and maintain patient billing records in the electronic medical record system
- Provide support to patients regarding billing inquiries and payment options
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Proficient in medical terminology, DRG, and medical coding principles
- Knowledge of medical collection processes and procedures
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and medical office software
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficient in using computer systems and software related to medical billing
