Course Description and Details

We all know that our heart is one of the most important organs in our body. Be the next one to save lives by becoming a Certified Electrocardiogram Technician (EKG). 

 

Certified Electrocardiogram Technician (EKG) is one of the simplest and fastest tests used to evaluate the heart. During the duration of the program, you will learn the theory and the importance of EKG but most importantly you will be exposed to performing real live EKG tests.

 

You will also learn how to use what we call ECG or EKG machine with lead wires. After performing the clinical portion of the training led by the instructor you have completed the training successfully, and at that point, you will be eligible to take the National Certification Exam (NHA). 

 

Requirements:

 

To work as a certified Electrocardiogram Technician (EKG) in New Jersey, you must meet the following:

  • Successfully complete an Electrocardiogram Technician training course that is approved by the Board of Education in New Jersey.

  • Complete a competency evaluation by an New Jersey state-approved school.

  • Be at least 18 years of age.

  • 10 Electrocardiogram live tests.

 

Employment Statistics:

 

According to the state of New Jersey Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average salary for a Certified EKG can range from $39,000 - $60,000.
